Overview
A History in Recovery
Twelve and Twelve, Inc. derives its unique name from two sources: its original location in downtown Tulsa at 12 East 12th Street, and the recognized effectiveness of the 12 steps and 12 traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Since first organized in 1985, 12&12’s primary purpose has been to help individuals affected by alcoholism and other drug addictions. From its modest beginnings as a halfway house for alcoholic men, the organization has evolved into Oklahoma’s largest residential treatment facility offering a full continuum of programs to nearly 5,000 individuals and their families each year.
Treatment That Works
The grip of alcohol and drug dependency is powerful. It damages relationships and health, and has a negative impact on every aspect of one’s life. Treatment at 12&12 offers the afflicted an intensive blend of educational and therapeutic services to forge a path to a life free of alcohol and other drugs.
Treatment at 12&12 begins with an assessment of each person’s needs and strengths. The resulting plan outlines a mix of treatment groups, individual therapy, and educational sessions. A dedicated treatment team works closely with each client to set realistic goals and to develop a continuing plan that addresses both early recovery issues and coping skills for when treatment is over. Additionally, clients are directed to participate regularly in 12-step support meetings.
Twelve and Twelve clients learn to rebuild their lives on a foundation of recovery.
A Sensitive, Caring Approach
Twelve and Twelve draws on the expertise gained from nearly 20 years as an organization dedicated to restoring people’s lives. We employ highly-trained and credentialed professionals, including a board-certified physician and psychiatrist; nurses; addiction therapists and counselors (many of whom are master’s level); case managers; and certified admissions counselors.
Taking a multidisciplinary approach, treatment teams assist clients in identifying unhealthy patterns in their lives, as well as the underlying issues and belief systems that fuel their addictive behaviors.
At 12&12, we practice the most successful approaches to treating chemical dependency. Treatment programs are based on recognized therapeutic protocols. Clients move through various phases of the continuum, receiving added independence and responsibility as treatment goals are met. Treatment programs are gender specific. Women and men are counseled separately to provide an environment in which they can openly share and learn.
The 12&12 course of treatment is personalized, compassionate, and firmly established for recovery.
Length of Treatment
Length of stay at 12&12 can be four weeks to four months depending on level of symptoms, addiction and usage history, and progress in treatment. The treatment team evaluates the needs and progress of each client, then recommends the level and length of stay based on those assessments.
As a nonprofit organization, our only concern is the success of our clients.
