Family involvement is an integral part of the treatment and recovery process at 12&12. Chemical dependency is a chronic, progressive illness. It affects not only the afflicted person, but also his or her spouse, partner, family members, or concerned friends.

Counseling and educational sessions provide information about chemical dependency and recovery, skills to cope with alcohol and drug addiction in the family, and introduction to support groups such as Al-Anon. Complete information about the program is provided at admission.

Involvement by family members and significant others can assist one’s chances for treatment success, as well as reduce the risk of others following in the path of addiction.
